A. Pengertian Logaritma
Logaritma
adalah invers (kebalikan)
dari perpangkatan (eksponen), Logaritma
suatu bilangan x dengan bilangan pokok a ( ditulis alog x) adalah
eksponen bilangan berpangkat yang menghasilkan x jika a dipangkatkan dengan
eksponen itu.

Ada 7 sifat pada logaritma ini yang
akan membantu kamu dalam memecahkan masalah yang berkaitan dengan logaritma

Hasil penghitungan logaritma dari satu bilangan akan diperoleh bagian
desimal. Bagian bulat di sebut karakteristik/induk yang diperoleh dari
perhitungan, sedang bagian desimal disebut matise diperoleh dari tabel
logaritma. Bilangan pokok pada daftar adalah 10.
Untuk menentukan logaritma bilangan yang lebih besar dari 10 atau antara 0
dan 1 dapat dilakukan dengan cara bilangan itu diubah dalam bentuk baku : a x
10n, dengan 1 £ a £10 dan n bilangan bulat, sehingga :
log (a x 10n) = log a + log 10n
=
n + log a
Contoh :
1. log 34.000 = log (3,4 x 104)
=
log 3,4 + log 104 ® dari tabel log 3,4 = 0,5315
= 0,5315 + 4
= 4,5315
2. log 0,284 = log (2,84 x 10-2)
= log 2,84 + log 10-2 ® dari tabel log 2,84 = 0,4533
= 0,4533 – 2
